A TASTE OF ITALY AND A SIP OF WINE AT THE FORT
The Fort pairs with Master Sommelier Doug Krenik for an intimate tasting dinner

MORRISON, CO – Doug Krenik is one of only 138 Master Sommeliers in the world—and on February 16th, 2007 he will be sharing his vast knowledge of vino with guests at an exclusive four course Taste of Italy Wine Pairing Dinner at The Fort restaurant, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Whether seeking to heighten your understanding about wines and their complementary foods, a creative and intimate date, a new gourmet adventure, or an opportunity to share a table with fresh faces, this relaxed and educational dinner is a rare experience.

Mr. Krenik, the European Wine Specialist for Southern Wine and Spirits in Denver, has collaborated with Fort Executive Chef Trevor Dierolf to create an Italian menu that is tailor made to synthesize the flavors of the foods and wines paired in each of the four courses. The evening begins with the refreshing Bisol Prosecco ‘Jeio’ NV, a delicious, crisp sparkling wine from the Veneto as appetizers of sun-dried tomato and goat cheese tartlets, avocado and shrimp canapés, and apple fritters with lemon aioli are passed among guests. The second course includes a charcuterie platter with horseradish aioli paired with the firm and dry Abbazia di Novacella Kerner 2005, from the oldest winery in the world. The main course is a robust crescendo combining Mauro Sebaste ‘Centobricchi’ 2003 (a voluptuous blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo) with tender buffalo osso bucco and its accompanying wild mushroom risotto.

Dessert cleanses the palate with rosemary panna cotta topped with a wild Montana huckleberry sauce and a Felsina Vin Santo 1997 whose lush and honeyed body ends the dinner on a sweet note. Thoughout the evening, Mr. Krenik will be on hand to participate with diners in discussion, answer questions, and offer insight about wine, tasting and pairings. Reservations are required as seating is limited and seats are all-inclusive at $82.00 per person.

In 2006, The Fort was named “Top of the Town:  Classic Denver Restaurant” by 5280 Magazine, “Best Dinner Destination for Impressing the Folks” by Westword, won the Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator for the third consecutive year and listed on the National Register of Historic places.  The Fort is located 20 minutes southwest of downtown Denver on Highway 8, just north of the Highway 285 intersection.  Reservations are strongly encouraged.  For more information call The Fort at 303-697-4771 or book online at www.thefort.com
