Prickly Pear Margarita Recipe

a glass of wine sitting on top of a table

To celebrate National Margarita Day today, we wanted to share a recipe for one of our most popular drinks served at The Fort: the Prickly Pear Margarita! This refreshing beverage is mostly enjoyed by guests during the summer, while they sit on our outdoor patio and enjoy the cool air and views of the foothills. While we wait for the weather to warm up enough to reopen our patio for the season, we hope you can enjoy this classic Fort cocktail at home. Cheers!

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. white tequila (Herradura preferred)

  • Juice of ½ a large lime

  • 1 tsp. confectioners' sugar

  • 1 ½ oz. triple sec

  • 1 ½ oz. prickly pear syrup*

  • ½ c. cracked ice

  • Salt, to rim glass

  • Slice of lime, for garnish

Directions

Shake all the ingredients except the salt and lime slice in a mixing glass. Strain and serve straight up in a salt-rimmed glass garnished with a slice of lime.

Note: *Prickly pear syrup can be found in some specialty stores or ordered online.
